Celle

Celle was a great city! Of course, we took the walking tour - I think of walking tours as the down and dirty best each city has to offer. Most of the time they are put together by the tourism board, and you can bet your ass they aren't going to send you past the boring, dilapidated sites.

So anyway, Celle. We started in the French Garden, where we saw the cutest. dog. ever. I swear to you, if I thought I could out run the owner, I would have snagged him and brought him home with me. His name is Sir Monty and dear lord was he adorable!

There were all sorts of great sites, but to me the most fascinating was the Synagogue. It turns out, it was the oldest synagogue in Lower Saxony. In he rooms that before the war were the school rooms, they have a museum. While we were there they were giving a tour to a school group, so we couldn't see everything, but the nice woman working at the book counter unlocked the "womans balcony" so that we could see have a peek.
